Parents' Comments

Parent #1
Classes are very structured and the program is very academic. Carden emphasizes independent work and so, while part of the class may be at a small-group table getting instruction by the teacher, the other students are expected to work on their own at their desks with pre-assigned work. Also, after lunch, the children are given time in class to read to themselves once they enter 1st grade. Younger children nap.

Parent #2
This is a structured, teacher-led curriculum. But, unlike other structured curricula that I have found, it is unusually gentle and age-appropriate.

Parent #3
Very structured, but the method seems to work. Some work is highly repetitive and children find it borring.

Parent #4
Carden method is good - this schools implementation of it is sub-par

Parent #5
The approach seems good for language skills but the math seems very weak. Not a well rounded program. the level of learning is child dependant -and how much the parent assits at home. Since we are not told how the child is doing, we had to guess and compare with other children from other schools. We found that the children hear are no further ahead then public school, but they lack many of the extracurricular activities found at other private schools
