Director's Comments
Heavily influenced by Montessori philosophy but eclectic approach is used.
Parents' Comments
Parent #1
This is a Montessori based school in philosophy. The head teacher actually teaches Montesssori classes at the college level so there is a huge base of understanding. However, she knows that children also need free play, dress-up and that this is a full-day program and children cannot focus all day long! There are circle times held during the day that all children attend. Most of the learning for the day is laid out at that time and children are encouraged to attend to tasks. Everyone participates in some activities and the teachers work with individuals and small groups. Again, this is preschool, so there should not be a huge push in academics. This age group needs to learn how to work together socially and emotionally. They do do a sound of the week, so phonics are introduced. Based upon this mode of learning, my 4-year old daughter is writing notes to me that are phonetically written. She feels very accomplished and some children are reading, as Kindergarten is part of this school as well. Each child is exposed to the curriculum and they learn at their own pace.
Parent #2
They are exposed to many things in circle and are always invited to do more in depth lessons.
