All are encouraged and part of the curriculum. There is a good mixture of teacher-led instruction and free play with structure for all activities.

The curriculum is more structured than I realized. I thought there would be more free play time, but my child is really enjoying all the pre-reading and writing activities. Compared to the Maple Street School, where she was enrolled previously, this is VERY goal oriented and I miss some of the 'playing is work' approach, but I'm also impressed by the way curriculum is so thoroughly worked into all activities at Berkeley Carroll.
