Parents' Comments
Parent #1
Brooklyn Friends seems to have a real fusion of teacher led curriculum and stations for student exploration. The classes are led, or initially begun by the teachers, and they are always present and attentive and benignly directing student learning. All the while the children are free to choose where and what they want to be doing in the classroom. Friends also has a meeting time at the beginning and end of the day that centers the children.
Parent #2
Kids have book-buddies (older kids who come to read and play with them). Meeting time (2x/day) is a time to hear a story, or to discuss something, or to learn a song. Day's routine and weather, jobs, etc. are included as kids get to 3's and 4's.
Parent #3
Everything is presented as play and there are always options available. Nothing is required except Meeting (circle time).
