We believe that children learn best through open-ended play experiences, multisensory stimulation, and opportunities to interact with other children and adults. Some structure is helpful: we provide structure through targeted teacher encouragement, play stations, circle time, etc. There is an informal structure to our curriculum, and children move through it at their own pace receiving guidance when needed.

| Other subjects taught | In addition to the Discovery Playgroup, additional classes include: Art Classes: Tot Art... The special needs and interests of 2- to 3-year-olds are explored in this hands-on, 'messy play' art class for toddlers. Focused attention to each child's creative talents builds on the art experiences children have in Habitot's drop-in Art Studio. Parents will come to appreciate the developmental approach used to guide each child's self-expression in mixed media, recycled art, painting and drawing. Parents or caregiver may participate. Fee includes all materials. Early Literacy: Nin?os en la Cocina... Children ages 4 to 6 will make traditional dishes from Central and South America to eat in class or take home, all within a Spanish language setting immersion setting. This class is suitable for children with some Spanish language skills and children who speak Spanish at home. Every child will take home a copy of each week's recipe. Explorando Espa?ol: An Introduction to Spanish... Children learn language in the early years better than at any other time. By using well-known stories with repetitive patterns, this class immerses your child in the Spanish language. Activities include music, art, storytelling and drama. Parents are encouraged to participate. If you and your child already speak some Spanish, this is a wonderful opportunity to reinforce the Spanish heard at home! Montessori? Waldorf? Play-based?
What school type is right for your child? Is one model better than another? What does the research say?
