I play my guitar and sing with the children. We also have a violin teacher and a Spanish teacher who comes weekly. We do encourage but do not push a child who does not want to participate.
Parents' Comments
Parent #1
Physical activity and movement are predominantly child-initiated, but the teacher also holds gymnatstic activities on certain days, as well as takes the children on nature walks.
Private music instruction is also included, i.e., piano and violin form part of the music curriculum from separate instructors.
The teacher also engages the children during circle time in music, from singing songs as she plays the guitar and sings, to dancing to music, or using simple musical instruments to accompany the music.
As far as math, space and time, and literacy skill-building go, these are incorporated into the choice of toys and games present in the school, and are rotated according to the developing skills of the children.
Drama/theatre is also an important aspect of a child's Inch by Inch experience. Children often decide to act out the stories they are read in the school.
As with the violin and piano lessons, science is taught once a week by a specialist.
