Director's Comments
Curriculum is usually chosen by the staff according to the needs of the children. Centers related to the curriculum are often set up for the child to explore. Teacher led activities are also available. There is always a staff member available to read to a child, and always a lap to sit on.
Parents' Comments
Parent #1
Skyline Preschool is definitely play based with an enormous amount of activities led by teachers. Each month there is a new theme with projects and activities evolve around that theme. If you want your child to learn through play, this is the place. The projects and themes are truly inventive and the classroom really shows off all the great work the kids create. These teachers really know how to teach kids as well as making sure they all have a great time doing it.
Parent #2
My sense of the school is that it is strongly play-based. However, everyday there are activities and straightforward lessons focusing on specific curricula--numbers, life science, alphabet, etc.
Parent #3
The directors develop a monthly calendar, incorporating themes throughout the week. They integrate math, science, writing, reading stories, etc., into the program. For example, math concepts are brought in by graphing exercises, cooking (weighing and measuring), etc. A dance program is offered weekly by an outside teacher.
Parent #4
I feel like my child has received a lot of instruction from the teachers on an individual basis as the need has arisen. As an example: he has worked on writing his name while at learning centers where he needs to put his name on projects or paintings, and number recognition and counting has come up for him while he's counting how many beads to put on a necklace. The learning has been very natural and very specific for HIS needs.

Skyline is play-based but there is some structure
Parent #6
I like the balance between free play and teacher guidance.
