Director's Comments
Aldersgate Day School believes children learn best when actively involved and engaged in activity. Therefore, many of our concepts are directly integrated into their centers and small group activities where they can best experience learning. Our four-year old and pre-k programs incorporate all accepted kindergarten readines concepts into the curriculum. We have enjoyed wonderful success using the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum to develop fine motor control, letter and number recognition and early reading readiness.

Parents' Comments
Parent #1
This is not an intense academic program - which is our preference.
Parent #2
Aldersgate has its own music teacher who puts together amazing winter and spring concert with children ages 3,4, and 5. Children in the toddler 1 and twos classes learn the music but are not performing at the concert. The younger children attend the concerts to see what they will do in future year. As far as academics within the day school setting, each area is included daily, but often without the children even realizing that they are learning. There is an abundance of learning snuggled into a day of fun for the children. I guess I mean instruction is not stiff or formal, but interconnected in all of the activities of the classroom

Being Savvy Today
Joy Through a Child's Eyes
It was a cold and soggy day at the Star of Texas Fair & Rodeo. Cold, that is, for March day here in Austin. Of all the sights to see, my son spent most of our visit at the petting zoo. He picked out his

Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
