The activities the children take part in at a Montessori school are called 'work', rather than 'play'.

Parents' Comments
Parent #1
The children are left to choose their own 'work' during the day. The 'work' options change regularly, and the teachers come up with very creative ways of teaching the children. My daughter loves it.
Parent #2
Work stations that offer children experience in specific tasks, but the child chooses which activites to pursue. Intermixed with free play time are organized activities, including phonetics and language development, learning to write/trace/form letters, some cooking, table manners, etc.
