Parents' Comments

Parent #1
Again, this all pertains to the mixed-age classroom and other classrooms may be very different. The students all have free time to pick books to read, but the teacher also reads to students and engages the children in asking questions. Last year they focused on poems and thus, it seems some of the learning is specific to the teacher and the children's particular interests.

Both child directe4d and teacher directed activities are used. there are lots of opportunities for kids to explore individually and socially after the teacher has introduced an activity or idea. lots of creative play but some structure as well.
