There should be a category that says 'free choice with structure and encouragement.' There are structured parts of the day (circle, small groups) and periods when children are given free choice, along with outdoor play. All the interest centers that children visit throughout the day or week reinforce the books they read and the 'units of study'. For example 'Fall/Pumpkins/Seeds/Wind', 'Buildings/Houses/Shapes/Sizes', 'All About Me', Plants/Life-cycle', 'Insects' etc.
