COOPERATIVE PHILOSOPHY
What is a cooperative?
A cooperative (or "coop") is one in which each family takes an active role in all aspects of the program. This includes working in the classroom and performing various jobs at the school.
Why choose a cooperative?
By being directly involved in your child's preschool experience, you set a precedent for making your child's education an integral part of your family's life, and you send a strong message to your child that his or her education is important. An additional benefit of cooping - it allows you become acquainted with the other children and families - friendships which often endure beyond the child's stay at ICNS. Coop parents have the responsibility of working in the classroom approximately 2.5 days per month. ICNS maintains a 1 to 5-adult/student ratio with caring cooping parents and a staff highly trained in early childhood education.

Parents' Comments
Parent #1
While it is child- and play-based curriculum generally; the teachers arrive with agendas. Should the child choose not to participate, they may quietly do another activity. The teachers lead discussion and lessons, but keep it fun and non-stressful.
Parent #2
The day is mostly play-based activities, with stations, and some small group work. There is circle/music time and story time every day.

Being Savvy Today
Joy Through a Child's Eyes
It was a cold and soggy day at the Star of Texas Fair & Rodeo. Cold, that is, for March day here in Austin. Of all the sights to see, my son spent most of our visit at the petting zoo. He picked out his

Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
