Director's Comments
The foundation of our developmental, play based curriculum is the belief that young children learn best through play and absorb knowledge primarily through active involvement with the materials and with their peers. We want to foster a love of learning and a positive attitude towards school.

During the first half of the program, children can choose from a number of open ended activities or teacher led activities. Self discovery is cultivated as is the exploration of their interests. The second segment of the program has more structure; meeting, clean up and circle times followed by table top activities, free play and then the final story of the day.
Parents' Comments
Parent #1
Peter's Place is committed to a play based curriculum that is truly what it says it is. Teachers spend a great deal of time planning the curriculum and setting up the environment to encourage children to explore all elements of their development by choice. Teachers support and guide children as needed in their quest to learn and develop. In all of the above areas teachers spend some time introducing new activities to children and supporting them as they engage in the activity: however, they do not 'instruct' as this is counter to the concept of a play based curriculum.

PPNS focuses on child development. They don't have a curriculum per se. They introduce developmental activities through free play and support it through short structured choice time or circle time.
Parent #3
Peter's Place is very play-based, although by the pre-K year more structure is added to ready them for kindergarten.
Parent #4
Peter's Place uses large groups, small groups, and one-on-one time to conduct most of these activities. My daughter loves to write books and can dictate any time to a teacher. There is lots of music, art, literature, science, and gross motor activities throughout the day.
Parent #5
The curriculum is outstanding with a special focus on enabling positive social interaction

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
