Parents' Comments
Parent #1
the montessori curriculum allows children to follow their own interest and choose activities in the first half of the day. there is different 'work' available, and the teachers instruct interested students individually. they also present lessons in science, music, geography, etc. it is an excellent place for a self-directed, curious child. lots of variety and options for learning literacy, math, and fine motor skills.
Parent #2
Visual arts: tecaher led program in the morning one day a week and 'free play with some structure' every afternoon Physical activity: teacher-led yoga class once a week and 'free play' every day for one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon on the outside playground weather permitting or in the gym indoors.
Parent #3
Music, Visual Arts and Physical activity have both the teacher lead components and the free play components where students can practice and experiment. Last year they had creative movement classes as well as free time to play in the play yard or gym.
Parent #4
Basic structured daycare, with no real curriculum. Kids are expected to do menial tasks, play for a short while in the playground, eat their lunch, then sleep for 2 hours while the teachers eat and hang out in the kitchen. Very Sad!!!!

Being Savvy Today
On My Own
We met up with my father for a weekend in Grayton Beach, Florida . It was too short as the girls don't see nearly enough of their grandparents, but we packed it full of fun. We spent our last day on the beach
Montessori? Waldorf? Play-based?

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
