Director's views on diversity:
Staff: The staff of our school mirrors the rich diversity of Oakland in its people. We believe that the experience of diversity (diversity of race, gender, ethnic origin, economics and opinion) creates a rich learning environment and is necessary preparation for living in a diverse world. GLM actively seeks diversity when sponsoring, recruiting, or hiring teachers, who in addition to their undergraduate degrees, have spent an intensive year in graduate training, learning the Montessori philosophy and methods.
