Word on the Street

When the weather is still frightfully cold and we're in desperate need of getting out of the house, Cub Run Rec is the place to be for indoor water fun!  It's a bit of a day trip for those of you outside of Fairfax County, VA, but well worth it.  Where else can you spend hours in a water-park-worthy indoor pool for under $20 for your entire family? Exactly. No where else but Cub Run.Cub Run is home to a water play area for your entire family that includes: a zero-depth-entry pool for the littlest oneswater playground with slide and various interactive play featuressprayground areaswimming pool (with built-in benches for sitting, walking, diving, whatever-your-4-yr.-old-comes-up-with)a lazy rivera vortexa spa (for grownups only)a 30-foot high slide that exits the building with an enclosed tube (and is awesome fun for everyone over 48" tall)a 20-foot high slide with an open tube (again great fun for those over 48" tall) This place is great for families, and not just because of the price.  There's something for everyone.  The youngest babies can sit in the zero-depth-entry and splash in the water, while the bigger kids try out the slides and interactive splash features.  Adults will appreciate the lazy river and the spa.  Especially the spa. Make sure you bring another adult with you when you visit so that you have a chance to relax in the spa and go down the slides and still have the children supervised. Speaking of supervision, the place is super safe -- life guards watch over every section of the pool and the two slides.  Children can bring their own arm floaties and/or life vests and life vests are also provided free of charge.  Don't worry about forgetting your swim diapers. They sell those at the front desk for $1. And, when you're ready to change and shower, make good use of the family changing rooms.  They do have large locker rooms for each gender, but the 4 large family changing rooms are the best for families with children.  The one on the far right (closer to the competition pool) even has a large bench and hooks for hanging up all your stuff, as well as a shower.  Lockers are available to rent as well for $.25. For more information visit Cub Run's website or call them at 703-817-9407.
