Word on the Street
Take two things -- a playground and coffee -- and you will keep most kids and parents happy. And when it's rainy and/or cold outside, you might want to consider heading to Jungle Java. Located on Old Settlers Boulevard in Round Rock, Jungle Java is an indoor playground with a full menu with sandwiches, salads, smoothies, kids meals...and, of course, coffee. There is plenty of seating and a separate play area for kids under 3. The play structure is -- you guessed it -- jungle themed. Kids love climbing up the "treehouse" and sliding down one of five slides. Many passageways (think two or three times what you might see at Chick-fil-A) allow kids to climb up and get back down to the ground. There is a small basketball court and also a mini-zipline. Kids 3 and up should be able to navigate most of the playground without difficulty, in which case you can track your child's movements from down below. Depending on where you sit, you will likely see your child most of the time, and you can certainly hear kids pretty well on a normal weekday if something is amiss. No outside food or drink is allowed and socks are required. The facility does not serve peanut butter, although some items on the menu have nuts or are processed in a facility that uses peanuts and/or tree nuts. There are rooms available for birthday parties and 3 month passes are available. Since it's a coffee shop, Jungle Java opens at 8:30 on weekdays, 9 on Saturdays and 10 on Sundays, which might be nice if you have an early riser.
