This 16 acre park is a fabulous place to take small children for a day of fun and exercise. A highlight of Robin Bledsoe Park is the Water Playscape, open from 09:00am - 08:00pm, May to September. A much loved feature of this area is that it is completely enclosed so that little ones cannot run away while playing in the water. The area is equipped with many water spraying units and a couple of pumps that can be controlled by the kids to shoot water (like a giant water gun). A good amount of water actually pools in the middle of the area, so kids can splash and jump in it, or scoop it up with pails to pour on one another. Off to the side, there is a covered area with tables, so that adults and children alike can take cover in the shade for a break or to rest while others are playing. Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult in the Water Playscape area.Just next to the Water Playscape you'll find the swimming pool, with operating hours of 12:00pm until 07:00pm June 6 - September 1st, and is open Tuesday - Sunday (Closed Mondays except for Memorial Day and Labor Day). There is a $1 admission fee. The pool has a lap area, shallow side and deep end, and a diving board. There is a lifeguard on duty, and a shaded area to one side. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult into the pool area. To the other side of the Water Playscape there are athletic fields, (including a diamond well-suited for playing softball or baseball, complete with bleachers, and a large field that would accommodate football or soccer), a basketball court, and a commons area where a concessions stand is operated during events. There are also a few picnic tables by the commons area - a nice place to sit and have lunch. Additionally, one set of two male and female bathrooms on site are right there. The amphitheater sits right next to the commons/concession/bathroom area. During early spring and fall, Movies in the Park are held here - a great family outing! On the other side of the park, a short, scenic walk across large areas of grass and a few benches takes you to the playground and picnic area. There is a covered pavilion with picnic tables and a grill to one side of the playground. To the other side are several picnic tables scattered about. Another set of bathrooms stands between the two picnic areas. The playground itself is new and sturdy, with several slides and climbing stations for children to adventure on and around. Preschoolers, as well as older children, will find fun on these playscapes and bridges. Swing-lovers will not be disappointed to find two kiddie swings and two big-kid swings nearby, waiting to fly. There are two parking lots on site, one paved and one dirt. The paved lot is on the side of the pool and spray park; the dirt lot is closer to the playground and picnic area.Techies will be happy to know that Suddenlink has provided a Wifi Hot Spot at the park. There's something at Robin Bledsoe Park for everyone. Pack the SPF and a picnic lunch, throw on your bathing suits, and head over!
