Word on the Street
Most animals displayed at the Science Center are "real." Most are fully mounted specimens that have been donated to the Science Center. A few specimens are casts. Casts are fiberglass or plastic reproductions made from an actual specimen. Examples of the cast animals on display at the Center include the large Sea Turtle, the Bottlenose Dolphins, and the Sharks in the Oceanography Hall.
Most of the Science Center Animals used in the exhibits were donated. Some animals were found dead and donated to the Center, most of the game animals were collected by licensed hunters who later donated them to the Center.
