Word on the Street

A new play center just opened up in Northwest Houston called "A Bunch of Fun." It is a 6,000 square-foot imaginative play center with different stations including a sand pit, a puppet theatre, a kitchen/store area, a craft area and dress up areas. They have three slides and a little light tunnel for kids to run through as well. This place is definitely geared for the younger set. I took my 4 year-old daughter and she loved it. But lots of younger kids were there as well. The owner is getting ready to put in a soft play infant/toddler area in soon, too. When you walk in, there's a structure on either side with lots of open room with tables down the middle. Be sure to bring socks for everyone, even mom, because you aren't allowed in without any. (There are socks there for purchase if you forget and a part of the proceeds go to the March of Dimes.)Modeled after the Children's Museum, the play area has lots of items like grocery carts and pretend food, puppets, dress-up clothes, trains and a train table and that sort of thing. This is NOT an inflatable play center. There is also a separate room for older kids to play video games (play station) and birthday party rooms if you want to have your child's party there. I loved the snack bar area that has Wi-Fi connection. The area has food for you to purchase (you can't bring in your own snacks) and tv's to watch movies/cartoons. I brought my computer up there and did a little work while my daughter played. The cost of admission is for open play and good for as long as they are open. We stayed for several hours and had fun. They also offer "play passes" where you can pre-purchase a series of open play sessions at a discount. And you can become a member by paying a yearly fee to gain unlimited access to the center in addition to many other member perks. This would be a good idea if you have little one's under the age of 5 and live close by.
