Word on the Street

Kids are used to seeing art in the form of paintings or pictures. Perhaps you should show them art in the form of sculpture? The Cullen Sculpture Garden in Houston is a great way to introduce your child to the world of sculptures. Located smack in the middle of the museum district (and across the street from the Museum of Fine Art), this little section of town will have your little one running from sculpture to sculpture. Ask your child what he or she thinks each of the 20 sculptures is. Some (a nude woman) are easier to figure out than others, so you might get a couple surprising answers. Also, this could be a good time to talk about how there's no right way to do art and that it is all beautiful.
