Arrowhead Ranch

Located at the end of a street in Cat Hollow, northwest of Austin, Arrowhead Ranch is a nice way to spend a morning. The $5 admission fee includes chicken and goat food, a pony ride and a balloon. In addition to goats, kids can pet bunnies and a donkey. Additional pony rides are available for $2.When you drive up, you realize there is not much to Arrowhead. But, in fact, the simplicity is part of the appeal. There are no flashing lights, sirens, bells and whistles -- but most kids are perfectly content to spend an hour or two in the shade of the cedar trees giggling as the baby goat eats out of their Dixie cup. An outing to Arrowhead is also much more doable for mamas of two or more, and little siblings can enjoy the Ranch as much as their older brothers and sisters.The Ranch is only open Mondays and Wednesdays from 9-11am, but you can reserve the facility for parties. Do call ahead, as these public hours are weather permitting and at the owner's discretion.If you are interested in a longer outing or a place to picnic after Arrowhead, Cat Hollow Park is nearby and has a playground and other amenities.
