The Vendors at the Nashville Farmer's Market offer up all kinds of food choices: meat, produce, breads & baked goods, dairy products and almost anything else you can imagine! In fact, you can even find special ethnic varieties like Jamaican, Indian, and Chinese selections - what fun! Support your local growers by purchasing foods grown in CSA, an especially excellent choice.
The little ones will probably want to have a treat of Kettle Corn - and why not? It's popped right before your eyes, making this snack tasty and entertaining.
In addition, you can shop for trees, shrubs, furniture, jewelry, beauty products... well, it might be easier to try to list the things you can't find at the Nashville Farmer's Market. Make sure you stop by A to Z Products for a little fun shopping for everything - don't miss out on the kids books, and $1 book sale.
Fun events are on the calendar regularly, so keep an eye out to see what's going on. The 3rd Sunday of the month always brings a Swing Dance from 1:00 - 4:00pm. It's a perfect chance to get the kids exposed to a fun dance style and maybe wear them out a little, too. (It's free.)
If you'd like to get a little exercise on other days, the market is located close to the downtown greenway trailhead, so you can hop over from there after a walk or biking trip with the little ones. The market even has bike racks to accommodate you.
There's so much local flavor and plenty to see, especially in the heart of the growing season, that you'll find the Farmer's Market a practical, as well as fun, trip for your whole family. And when you get home, you can whip up some healthy and delicious meals with the food you've brought home.
