Word on the Street

Smith and Bybee Wetlands Area is the largest natural wetland area in a city in the United States. It is protected, despite its surrounding industrial setting, and it truly shows. You can see a huge variety of wildlife, including deer, osprey, bald eagles, beaver, otter and a large population of Western painted turtles. So, how to see them? Well, there is a paved nature path, Interlakes Trail, that you can either stroll or bike on. There is also an area where you can launch a canoe, which includes bathrooms, displays, a bus stop and even public art. Bring a picnic, make a day of it, and have a great time!
