The seed of the idea for The Kids' Table was planted not in Chicago, but in London, England, where then-attorney Elena Marre was raising a newborn son. Unfamiliar with British childrearing customs, Elena sought out advice when the time came for her son to make the transition to baby food. What brand, she asked a British friend from a prenatal class, do you recommend? The response surprised her: "I plan to make my own."
