Word on the Street

In case you have doubts about whether a young child will appreciate the artistry in quilts and textiles, try positioning it as a museum full of blankets, snuggies and loveys, just like the one he has at home, and watch his eyes grow wide.  This small museum in San Jose contains a beautiful collection of quilts, textiles, and other forms of wearable art, from historic to contemporary, from native and ethnic to Western.   Their Kids Create program offers school-aged children ages 5-10 a wonderful opportunity to engage in educational, creative activities.  Held every first Sunday of the month, each Kids Create program includes a story, a discussion of an art or folk tradition, and an art project.
