Word on the Street

The Sanchez Adobe, located at the Sanchez Adobe Park in Pacifica,  is the second-oldest building in San Mateo County and is considered the finest example of Spanish era architecture in San Mateo County.  The Woodside Store was once a general store, post office, and dental office in the heyday of Lumber industry in Woodside.  Now it's a restored historic house museum fashioned after an 1880's general store, filled with goods that a teamster, wagon maker, lumberman, or blacksmith might buy.  Visitors can explore the surrounding grounds and enter the store to look at period artifacts. The museum offers a hands-on history program for elementary students  where the kids can experience life in the 1880's logging era.   And don't miss Old Woodside Store Day in May, when families can step into the past by viewing demonstrations and participating in old-fashioned activities.
