When our children are very young, math is a part of everyday life. We don't set time aside to work on addition and subtraction—we leave that for the elementary school days. Math is something that we incorporate into reading time, snack time, outdoor play... just about everything. 

So it makes sense that as we go through our daily travels around our cities and neighborhoods that we find things to count as we go. From sea lions to church spires and from museum pillars to water fountains, our city editors have found extra-fun things to count in each of their hometowns.  Read on for more of the math-tastic fun!
