Snack Time Activities for kids
Snack Time
Children love snacks. And the truth is, they need them. Their little bodies generally cannot make it from one meal to the next without a little extra fuel in between.
Because snacks are quick and often on-the-go (honestly, whose car is not littered with wrappers and crumbs?), we tend to reach in our cupboards or refrigerators for the easiest foods to prepare. Fortunately, fast and easy can also be good and healthy. Apples, carrots, and cheese, for example, are very easy to prepare and also nutritious. And, as parents, we know how important healthy eating is for young children.
We also know that including children in meal preparation helps them learn about proper nutrition and healthy eating. It can also be a lot of fun! Snack time, in particular, offers quick, easy, and fun opportunities to make some treats that your child will enjoy making and eating. You would be amazed at how much you can do with simple ingredients like crackers, peanut butter, and strawberries. You can make all sorts of edible animals, and probably cars, trucks, and princesses too. Here are some of our favorite Savvy snack ideas:

ages 3-6
Supplies
1/2 pint strawberries, 1 banana, 2 8-oz. containers nonfat strawberry yogurt, 1 cup lowfat milk
Activity Detail
Let your little ones help you make this nutritious treat! Wash the fresh strawberries. Peel a banana & slice it in half or in quarters. Let your little one help you count and then place all the fruit in an electric blender. Spoon the yogurt into the blender, then pour in the milk. After sealing the lid, press the puree button and blend until smooth and thoroughly combined, about 1 to 2 minutes. The smoothie is now ready to serve.
