This book, which like Wiesner's earlier award-winning books contains no text, might be a bit challenging for the typical four-year-old to decipher, but it seems well-suited for older children with a lot of imagination. The story begins with a boy exploring creatures at the beach. A big wave blindsides the boy and tosses an old underwater camera onto the beach. The boy takes the camera to a photo-developing store and the pictures prove to be astonishing! The boy discovers a photo of an octopus reading a book to a school of fish on the sofa. The boy also finds a picture of a young girl who, in turn, is holding photos of other children from around the world and different eras. The boy takes a picture of himself holding the photo and tosses the camera back into the ocean. The story ends with a little girl finding the camera washed up on a distant beach. The book is rich in detail, but leaves plenty of room for children to create their own story lines.
