Sometimes it can seem tough to explain to someone so close to you just how very much you love him. Perhaps the better approach is to try to tell him how very, very far you'd go to protect him. It seems more consistent with the preschooler worldview. This book takes that tack, and it does so from both the father's and the child's perspective. First the heroic (and a smidge ironically so) dad takes on every manner of pirates, sharks, robots, apes, and Martians to protect his son. Then the son gets to catalog all manner of medical procedures he'd perform in order to heal his wounded but victorious pop. The book is great fun, and it's also a lovely demonstration of the fact that even the wild imagination of your little one can't conjure up a world where dad's not the star.
