Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me

by Eric Carle

For ages 2-6 years

Any pint-sized fan of Eric Carle's work will immediately recognize the gentle-faced moon of this book, and any parent of said pint-sized fan will immediately recognize the pleas of a little one to bring her the moon. From this familiar territory, Mr. Carle makes wonderful use of a couple of fold-out pages to tell the story of a dad who tries to reach up and pluck the moon for his daughter. Along the way he teaches a bit about the waxing and waning of the moon and a lot about the love of a parent, which as you know never wanes at all.

The moving artwork and words make this Eric Carle a collectible. If you're like me, and have kids who point to the moon everynight - and ask about the moon's whereabouts every "day" - then you'll need this book. It's a sweet tale of what any parent would do for their including the moon. Many nights, we stretch our arms and try to reach for it together.

I love Eric Carle books for pre-schoolers. The rhymes and colorful pictures are just right for my kids' attention spans. However, that's not why I bought this book. I bought this book for my husband to read our three year old daughter because he would get her the moon if he could. In "Papa, Please The Moon For Me", Monica's Dad does what he needs to for his little girl to play with the moon. What Mom can resist this book?

I bought this book for my husband and baby boy. At first I picked it up because it's kind of hard to find books that reference "Papa" (what we call my husband) instead of "Dad", but I didn't know it would be such a sweet story. We love this book.

This book was a "Baby's First Christmas" gift to my husband from me and my infant daughter. I was definitely going for "sentimental," and I was right on the money. He loved it, and now that we have two daughters, he reads it to them often (and tries not to shed a tear.) It's yet another treasured Eric Carle book in our home.
