This collection of essays will make you laugh, and in classic Trillin style, it will also make you hungry. It will make you appreciate this gem of a father, and it will make you go easy on your own foibles in the name of hapless but somehow still successful parenting. It will make you treasure the time over the breakfast table, and it will certainly make you more creative when it comes time for Halloween festivities. But mostly it will make you enjoy your own stories, the intensely personal and yet oddly universal tales of family-dom. Yours are every bit as quirky and delightful, although perhaps not (yet) as cleverly written as Mr. Trillin's. Relish his, and then cherish your own. (P.s. A finer, kinder modern love letter, we do not know.)
