How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?

by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague

For ages 1+ years

If only you had dinosaurs in your house at bedtime?. Sure, your paint job might take a beating with all those scales and tales, and your downstairs neighbors would really bellow about the footsteps, but bedtime would be a cinch. And if you don't believe us, ask your child after you read this book together. The authors of this great series use all the examples of what a dinosaur would never do (roar, pout, sulk, slam his tail, demand one story more, etc.) to inspire your own little one to abandon all of his own age-old stalling tactics and go to bed. And like all good dinosaurs, we're sure yours will remember to give you an extra kiss before lights-out. It's a wonderful series of books, and if this one sticks in your little one's imagination, by all means turn to the ones on How Do Dinosaurs Clean Their Rooms? and How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food? and the rest. Who knew that manners were so important in the prehistroic age?!

I'm always on the lookout for a really good before bed book and this book fits the bill nicely. No boring story and average illustrations in this book. A must for the kid who can't get enough of dinosaurs and the parent who wants a book that they will enjoy as well.

I absolutely love the dinosaur series. These books take a loved animal, pair it with a simple rhyme, throw in some well done and very funny illustrations, and create a teaching tale thatâ??s oh so fun to read. My son is now reading these books to his little sister, showing her the dinos doing their crazy, funny things. And then they both laugh. I love these books!

We have this entire trilogy and as our daughter has progressed, the sophistication of the book has continued to appeal to her. At first it was fun because of the silly concept of dinosaurs taking on human behaviors. Then she clued into the oddity of dinosaurs having human parent/caretakers. Soon she picked up on the facial expressions and started to understand the subtext of the characters actions and reactions. Now that she's nearly five, she loves to hunt and find the hidden names of each of the dinosaur species. I am amazed the binding on this book has lasted as long as it has!

My son, 3, LOVES this series of books. We've read this one so many times that he can recite it from memory. If you are looking for a fun way to teach your child about acceptable bedtime behavior this prehistoric twist will get the job done!

We love this book at bedtime -- maybe because my son is a bit dino-obsessed. The illustrations are charming.

Love this book but my (3YO) son finds it scary. I'm not sure why, the illustrations are adorable -- just check out the cover -- and the storyline carries a young dino from tantrum to nightnight.
