Lincoln Logs

by K'Nex

For ages

There are lots of reasons to give a nod to Lincoln Logs, not least of which is that we celebrate President's Day this week and the birthday of Honest Abe himself. Another reason is that this building set provides a particular kind of satisfaction unlike any other comparable toy. Yes, you can build a house with good old wooden unit blocks which are, of course, another classic, essential toy. But it will never have the same solidity and, well, log-like quality that the one you build with Lincoln Logs does. There's something irresistible about the way the logs and roof slats fit together - so even if our kids can never claim to have lived in a log cabin in their political bios, they'll darn well know how to build one. .

What a classic! We enjoyed playing with Lincoln Logs at a great B&B we visited in April. Loads of fun!

Another classic toy from my childhood that Gigi is beginning to enjoy at nursery school. I remember how the logs fit so securely together as long as the pieces lined them up properly and how cool the results looked. I wonder if my daughter will let me teach her how to build a cabin with windows, when she gets her own set this Christmas.

The only thing better than playing with cars, in my son's opinion, is building structures to park them in. Lincoln Logs continue to be great toys. You can play with them on their own or easily integrate them with other toys. You can 't go wrong.

When we discovered our second child was going to be a boy, my head filled with a list of all of the "boy toys" that would soon flood my house. I loved playing with Lincoln Logs with my brother. Our daughter never expressed an interest in these, but I'm sure that she'll dive in as soon as her brother opens these.

This classic toy is one I always wished I had as a child. My husband and son played with some during a preschool club meeting and they were difficult for the children to actually use. The steep learning curve makes these something I would think twice about buying.

i can't believe how good some old toys are. we got a container of these for noah's third birthday. he loves them. problem is, he can't quite do them on his own yet. not enough fine motor skills. but that's okay because it gives me a chance to sit with him and talk as we build.

We played with them as kids and although there are many fancy electronic toys now available for kids that we not available back in our day, this classic toy set is still just as fun. The kids get so creative with Lincoln Logs - they're building way more than cabins!

I don't think that I know anyone who HASN'T played with Lincoln Logs. They're a classic toy and are big enough that you don't have to freak out every five seconds about your little one swallowing a piece. Great open ended toy that inspires creativity.

As I introduce my children to the 'Little House' series of books, no building tool is quite so appropriate as Lincoln Logs. Even as an adult I love to play with them and it's one that's enjoyed with equal enthusiasm by little girls and little boys no matter *how* traditionally they conform to gender roles. Everyone loves to build a house.

Yet another wonderful toy from my own childhood that I can't wait until my daughter is old enough for. They are a great toy that requires lots of imagination, but no batteries. It also doesn't make any obnoxious noises.

My Mom gave my son a set of Lincoln Logs for Christmas last year and they have become one of his favorite toys. And my husband loves to play with them too. This is certainly a timeless gift choice.

Another fantastic building toy, Lincoln Logs have been training junior architects and contractors for generations. It's hard, even as an adult, not to get kind of addicted to Lincoln Logs. I can't build so much as a birdhouse--just ask my middle school shop teacher--but even I can throw together a halfway-decent Lincoln Log cabin. You can buy all manner of Lincoln Log playsets; any of them will provide the kids (and you) with hours of problem-solving and entertainment.

My boys received their first set of Lincoln Logs from my parents and they love them. The set not only brings back memories or me, but let's them use their imaginations to create buildings, cabins, rockets (yes...) and more. The logs are sturdy and the set provides hours of entertainment.

If you want to build a Wild West town for your Polly Pockets, Littlest Pet Shop animals or HotWheel cars (yes, kittens and cars can be cowboys), there's nothing like Lincoln Logs to give it that western, log-cabin vibe. My kids needed a little help stacking the logs at first, but once they got the concept, there was no stopping them. I just wish they'd leave some logs for me to build my own little cabin with.
