This delightful book brings the charms of a small town Fourth of July celebration to life. Many of the other books that speak specifically to July 4th or the history of the holiday or of the flag or offer biographies of founders of our country are simply too detailed and too wordy to hold the attention of most preschoolers. This one is a lovely little story that conveys the spirit of the celebration with its rhyming text and bright illustrations of a parade, newly sworn-in citizens, summer picnics, fishing scenes, and of course, fireworks.
