Operation game

by Hasbro

For ages 4+ years

Okay, it's not exactly anatomically correct (unless you've got a breadbasket clanking around your belly), and it's not exactly new and improved since you remember it. But we're not so sure those are drawbacks. Operation is a great game, and while it is intended for older kids (the box suggests 6+ years, your older preschooler may just have a great time with it. The tweezers are hard to maneuver, but that is the whole point, isn't it? The buzzer is a bit loud, and there's no on/off switch, but we were sold when a veteran preschool teacher suggested it as a way to help a four-year-old work on her fine motor skills, including the precision and strength needed someday to write letters. What a clever trick. And this fun game prompts you to clarify for your little one that he doesn't in fact have a wishbone down near his belly button, then you've just found yourself an early biology tool too.

This game has been around forever but it continues to be a favorite. My son's kindergarten teacher suggested it as a great fine motor skills tool. We actually have the "Hulk" version which is fun for the true boys boy.

This is a great game. I'm sure we all remember playing it when we were little, and it's a great game for our kids too. Helps to develop fine motor skills, taking turns, and winning and losing. My boys love this game, but they don't always "play by the rules" and make up their own -- so helps develop imagination too! And when they hit the metal and the nose lights up -- fits of giggles.

This game is a true classic and like the description says, is great for honing fine motor skills in a preschooler. In fact my son has played it during his physical therapy sessions. Of course, it's also great for teaching body parts too, and is fun all around.
