Play-Doh Creativity Center

by Hasbro

For ages 2+ years

Now that your drawing materials are so neat and tidy, you'll want the same treatment for your child's modeling clay materials. The Play-Doh Creativity Center gives you all the necessary tools for an entire childhood's worth of Play-Doh fun. The table and lid (shaped like a breakfast in bed tray - you can have coffee on yours while the little sculptor has bright green Play-Doh on hers) hold a mini-extruder tool (think Play-Doh chia pet), dozens of cutters and rollers and molds and scissors, five mini cans of Play-Doh and a fabulous tool that can only be described as a Play-Doh garlic press. It's literally endless fun for your child, and then it all piles back inside with the lid snapped on and - ta-da! - clean-up time is finished!

We are major fans of play-doh in this family (I think it may be the texture and smell - mmmmmm play-doh). For me Play-doh is a birthday party and Christmas stocking staple, and the cool kits like this creativity centre make it really fun. We can spend a long time playing with the dough and Gigi likes to make me pretend meals (though I don't like it when she tries to force me to eat the food).

While we don't have this particular set at our house, PlayDough has been in a Christmas stocking or under the tree every year since our kids were born. It's a great activity on our extreme weather days (hot OR cold in Vegas) and it's been a lot of fun to see how the shapes and activities become more complex as the kids get older. The only beef I have is that it dries out so quickly in our desert climate, no matter how tight we seal the lids. That's why this is on our list again this year.

When one of my friends recently told me her three year old had outgrown Play-Doh, I stared at her in disbelief. You're never too old for Play-Doh with its alluring smell and pleasant texture. It's such a great activity for kids as it really develops their creativity.

What a great Play-Doh set. I absolutely love when toys come with built in storage. Wonderful. My kids love to make "snakes" of varying colors and then cut them into pieces with the tools. Ok, maybe I shouldn't be telling people that. But they're having fun! :-)

yes, i know. play doh is hard to get out of carpet. but it keeps noah busy and happy long enough for me to get dinner done. when i do join him, i find it strangely therapeutic and relaxing to squish around a glob of it into funny shapes too. when i realized how "into" play doh he was, i went ahead and bought this big set instead of buying everything piece meal.
