March 2nd is Dr. Seuss's Birthday! Born in 1904, Dr. Suess has been bringing joy and merriment to children and adults alike ever since. Silly sounds are spelled out in bold words and wild creatures we never imagined come to life on the pages of every book, filled with rhyming and not so hidden lessons.Celebrate Dr. Seuss's 106th birthday this Saturday at The Discovery Center, as well as the NEA's Read Across America Day. As Seuss said, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."
For this special celebration, admission is free, and visitors will be able to participate in art projects and activities, as well as enjoy exhibits throughout the museum. Additional entertainment will be provided by Murfreesboro City School performing arts groups."You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose." So make sure you put on your stovepipe hat and steer yourself to the Discovery Center this Saturday.
And if you find you're sad when it's over, you can still celebrate all month long with specially themed storytimes at Davis-Kidd Booksellers. And remember:
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." -- Dr. Seuss
