Event Information

Travel back in time with a walking tour of Ramona's World! Join the author of Portland Hill Walks and Portland City Walks, Laura Foster and learn more about Portland's most beloved fictional character: Ramona Quimby. If you're just starting to read the Ramona series to your children, this is a magical way to really make Henry, Ribsy, and all of Beverly Cleary's charming characters spring to life. The walk will explore the many landmarks of the 1950's Northeast Portland setting, and you'll even be able to see where Beverly Cleary herself once lived. If you listen closely, you just might hear the "trip-trapping" of Ramona Quimby, stomping around in her treasure red rain boots!

Treat your children to a piece of Portland history! Plan ahead and reserve several of the Ramona Quimby audio books so your child can get to know all about the precocious Miss R, her sister Beezus, and their harried parents. Take advantage of the gorgeous late fall weather and pack a picnic to eat beforehand at the Beverly Clearly Sculpture Garden.

This family friendly walk lasts an hour and a half and meets at the Hollywood Library. The terrain is flat and both stroller and wheelchair accessible. The tour repeats several times during September and October. The walk is made possible by The Library Foundation and The Kinsman Foundation.
