Celebrate the start of the fall holiday season at the annual Barnstable County Harvest Festival Oct. 2-3. On that weekend, the county fairgrounds on Rte. 151 in East Falmouth will transform into an autumn garden of festivities and family fun.
"Fall on Cape Cod is a time for welcoming crisp weather, celebrating the harvest and planning for the holidays," said Wendy Brown, general manager of the Barnstable County Agricultural Society, sponsor of the Harvest Festival. "It promises to be a great weekend for the whole family."
The festival will include live entertainment by local bands, a marketplace of local farmers and crafters, pony rides, hayrides and much more, all between the hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. Admission is $5; kids 8 and younger will be admitted at no cost. Parking is free.
Again this year, in the spirit of Oktoberfest, the Harvest Festival will feature a traditional wine and beer garden.
Wendy Brown said the Harvest Festival is where parents and kids can spend quality time together, enjoying kiddie rides, a haunted house, pumpkin painting and the 4-H horse drill team. There will be food vendors, gardening tips and soil testing as well.
The theme is "The Holidays Start Here," Brown explained. "We will feature exhibitors selling wares and services that will make ideal gifts for year-end celebrations."
