Event Information

Shoji are traditional Japanese paper doors that are in the Japanese House exhibit at Boston Children's Museum. Shoji doors use very thin papers. Mr. Wakiya from Kyoto, Japan is a well respected master artisan of Japanese paper art and craft work.

On Friday, July 16, 7-8pm and Saturday, July 17, 11am-4pm, Mr. Wakiya will present Special Demonstrations of "Repairing Japanese Shoji Paper Doors" in the Museum. While the shoji doors in the Japanese House are being repaired, there will be fun activities where you can learn more about shoji doors and Japanese culture.

Do not miss this rare opportunity to see a traditional Japanese artisan at work!  Call the Museum's Japan Program at (617) 426-6500, ext. 295 for more details.
