Beginning Wednesday, June 30th and continuing all week until Monday, July 5th, the annual Fourth of July festival (now in its 28th year) is meant to showcase our city's rich colonial and maritime heritage through a series of re-enactments, exhibitions, guided city tours and historic displays. With over 200 events to choose from, there is fun for everyone, on every day. Children's Day
, which takes place on Thursday, July 1st, offers a ton of educational and entertaining activities for children 3-10. From 10am to 3pm on the Plaza at City Hall, bring your kids for face painting, wandering jugglers, music, magicians, sports events and more. Other kid-friendly events include the Whiskers, Fur, and Flippers show on the New England Aquarium Plaza (daily); the Kids Sail, a short tour on board the LIBERTY; the Colonial Children's Faire, a look at how the Colonial children played, and more. The festivities culminate with the 28th Annual Chowderfest
on the Plaza at City Hall on Monday from 11am to 6pm. Check out the week's schedule
