Event Information

A six-day event, the annual Fourth of July festival (2010 will mark its 28th year) is meant to showcase our city's rich colonial and maritime heritage through a series of re-enactments, exhibitions, guided city tours and historic displays.  With over 200 events to choose from, there is fun for everyone, on every day.  Children’s Day offers a ton of educational and entertaining activities for children 3-10.  From 10am to 3pm on the Plaza at City Hall, bring your kids for face painting, wandering jugglers, music, magicians, sports events and more.  Other kid-friendly events include the Whiskers, Fur, and Flippers show on the New England Aquarium Plaza (daily); the Kids Sail, a short tour on board the LIBERTY; Captain Kidd’s Treasure Hunt with a pirate’s map; trying on Colonial Clothing at the Old South Meeting House, and more.  The festivities culminate with the 27th Annual Chowderfest on the Plaza at City Hall on Sunday from 11am to 6pm.  Check out the website for times, locations and events.
