Recessionista hits Boston!  Visit the MFA free this Sunday, easily Boston's largest art museum, containing over 450,000 works of art, making it one of the most comprehensive collections in the Americas. 

Enjoy free admission, gallery tours, special exhibitions, and family activities. ReadBoston, an organization that promotes early childhood literacy, will also hold a book drive. Visitors are encouraged to bring new or gently used children’s books to the Storymobile, located outside the MFA’s State Street Corporation Fenway Entrance.In addition, save 10% (MFA members save 20%) on children's books in the Museum Bookstore & Shop, September 20 only!

Some highlights of the MFA's collection include:

  • Egyptian artifacts including sculptures, sarcophogi, and jewelry.
  • French impressionist and post-impressionist works including Paul Gauguin's Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going? as well as works by Manet, Renoir, Degas, Monet, Van Gogh, Cézanne and many others.
  • 18th and 19th century American art, including many works by John Singleton Copley, Winslow Homer and John Singer Sargent.
