The famous Sawdust Art Festival has been educating and entertaining art enthusiasts since 1966! This festival includes over 200 artists and their wide variety of works including: ceramics, jewelry, painting, hand-blown glass, wood and metal sculpture, photography and much more. Set in gorgeous Laguna Beach, the rocky waterfall, greenery and rustling trees offer a serene location in which to enjoy all art has to offer. Listen to live music, enjoy great food and watch live glass blowing and other demonstrations. Ask questions of artists, watch them as they work and don't miss the childrens' booth.
Check the website for daily schedules of performers on three stages, plus roving entertainment acts. Bring some cash or a card for delicious food ranging from deli sandwiches, Greek delicacies and breakfast burritos to coffee, saloon refreshments and kettle corn. Feel free to pack your own food if you wish. There are plenty of tables and benches available.
Arrive early for best parking. Bring quarters for street parking or cash for lots. Bring a satchel to carry all your goodies, including great hands-on project made by your munchkins! Don't forget sunscreen and a camera. There are many great photo-ops in this creative setting. You might even get a cute holiday card photo from your visit!
Walking around on the sawdust-sprinkled aisles, listening to live music and admiring local art will make for a great family day in Laguna Beach. Plan to arrive early and after your Sawdust visit, head straight down the canyon to Main Beach, which features a great playground, boardwalk, bathrooms and basketball courts. There is a BJ's Pizza just across PCH if you want to stay for dinner.
