Tucson Children's Museum
From Oceans to Dinosaurs, the Children's Museum has something to pique the interest of any child.
The Mind Your Body Room offers plenty of activities to teach the kids about living healthy. For exercise they can climb the rock wall or play a game of "Dance Party." Help them make healthy food choices in the grocery center and then cook it up in the kitchen. When you're ready to leave home, head on over to the doctor center to look through microscopes and play a life-size game of "Operation."
Go ring the fire house bell in the Public Safety room before putting on your firemen jackets and hats and hopping in the cab of the fire engine. Our trip is never complete until we turn on the flashing lights of the police motorcycle.
The Ocean roomhas a life size submarine for children to man the controls. The walls have many peek a boo boxes with sea life surprises inside. The center of the room is decorated with coral reefs, inside which kids will find aquatic puppets to tell their stories. The tide pool is a safe "please do touch" with out ever getting wet.
The Enchanted Rainforest is designed with the under 4 set and their siblings in mind. There are plenty of crawling and climbing surfaces with animal paint and sounds lurking in every corner. Don't forget to put the tree frogs on the Velcro anaconda and use the pulleys to make them fly, but be sure to give others in the room a heads up.
New exhibits arrive a few times a year. Check with their website for limited engagements.
