This book is a widely-loved modern classic, frequently--and properly, we think--cited as the very best, very first place to start for leading your child through the alphabet . It is bright and tropical, with a rhyme that has a calypso beat to it that kids (and their parents simply adore). We all have so many stories of little ones whose faces simply light up at the sight of the book--there's something about the hot pink and orange and green color scheme and the silly antics of nutty lowercase letters or the fantastic rhyming cadence that tells the wise early preschooler that this is book she wants to hear again and again (and again and again). And what better way to while away an afternoon than basking in a little tropical glow and chanting your way up the coconut tree with the alphabet. It sounds just delightful to us.

This book is so much fun! My son loved it before he could speak much. But he laughed so hard every time the letters fell. He just cracked up. And it was a wonderful way to introduce the alphabet to him.

We have loved this book ever since it came into our house as a gift for our oldest son's second birthday. The rhyme and rhythm are delightful. The kids giggle every time we get to "OH NO!" We have also borrowed the ful length version that includes the uppercase letters from the library.

I only recently got this book for my four year old son who is really knee-deep in the process of learning how to read. He is hypnotized by rhymes and the easy lyricism of this classic combined with the colorful illustrations has made it a carry-everywhere book.

The book is a bright, colorful adventure with the ABC's climbing up a tree. Believe me, by the second or third reading, you'll already be reading the lines in a sing-song fashion - it just happens naturally. Kids love the rhythm and learn their ABC's in the process.

This colorful rhythmic book is wonderful for teaching children the ABCs. Our toddler loves cuddling on our lap to hear the story and kisses all the letters when they fall out of the tree. Our almost 5 year old loves reading the book to her little brother because the simple text allows her to practice her developing reading skills.

I remember the first time I read this book and wondering outloud "Chika chika? Boom boom?" But my son seemed to "get it" and from a very early age. At 6 months he paid close attention, grew quiet and focused while we read and giggled at the "chika chika". We always kept it in the car or in my diaper bag; this was our "go to" book for many years. Now his brother enjoys the same beat up copy and he adores it just as much. Don't forget to check out the sequel "Chika Chika 123!"

This is a great way to learn the alphabet. My kids have both the long and short versions of the book and chant the song all the time. Even after reading it hundreds of times, they never tire of this classic book.

We got this book as a gift when my oldest son was baptised and it's been a favorite of both kids for seven years. We pick out the letters as they go up the tree -- chant "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" together and then "OH NO!" when they all fall down. This book is a wonderful alternative to the "ABC Song" to teach kids the alphabet. The pictures are simple, the colors are bold and the kids love the rhyming text. This book should be part of everyone's library and makes a wonderful gift!
