Birthday Party Birthday Cake

by Melissa & Doug

For ages 2-6 years

"When will it be my birthday?" Why today, of course! And tomorrow, and the next day, and any day you like with this perfectly yummy (never mind wooden) birthday cake. Blow up a few balloons, invite all the teddy bears and dolls to the party, wrap a couple of old toys, and get ready to sing. How old are you today? Three? Or did you say five? Now it's eight? Well, just count out the candles, make a wish, and blow. Happy Birthday!

$12.48

This Melissa and Doug food set is made of wood, but it actually got so used in our house that we had to get a second one. You can decorate the cakes with strawberries or jelly beans and then attach play candles to blow out. Everything attaches easily with velcro so your kids can sing happy birthday over and over again. This is an adorable item to add to your "kitchen".

Melissa and Doug make the BEST items! The ability for kids to cut their own cake and serve like grown ups never seem to get old. No pun intended!

there was a time when my son was obsessed with birthday cakes. he loved the ritual of singing the song before blowing out the candle and cutting into the cake so much that we had to sing to every cake and pie we consumed, complete with lit candle. when it got to the point where he wouldn't eat a banana without sticking a candle in it, i went in search of alternatives and found this. now we "play" birthday all the time!

My three-year-old spent the entire summer singing "Happy Birthday" to anyone who'd listen. "Is it your birthday?" friends would ask him. Nope, it's just a great day to celebrate. A birthday cake toy is a great way to keep the festivities going even if you can't manage to bake a cake every few days (as he's been requesting) and Melissa & Doug food toys are a perennial favorite among every child with whom I've ever played!

Melissa & Doug products are great! This one is a fun reminder of a birthday. My daughter celebrated her 3rd birthday and she continues to ask "when will it be my birthday again?" Each time she does, we take this out and have a pretend birthday party for her! She even shares with her dolls. It's a great toy to encourage sharing, recall memories, and be creative. We love it!

My son just finished celebrating his 3rd birthday and that is all we heard until the day, "is today my birthday? when is my birthday?" We could have used this, especially because he also loves to bake in his kitchen. We will have to get this to add to our ever growing creative toy basket.

Melissa and Doug are one of my favorite toy companies. Combining simplicity with fun, they have engineered a line of products that wonâ??t make you battery-poor but will keep your kids busy for hours. Creative yet clean, educational yet entertaining. Every kid loves to decorate birthday cake almost as much as they love to eat it!

I have this stashed away for Christmas for my three-year-old and think she will love it. Melissa & Doug stuff is great and this looks to hold up to the high standards I expect from them. I'm sure we will be singing lots of "Happy Birthday" once this is unwrapped.
