Great Day for Up
Great Day for Up
by Dr. Seuss
For ages 2-6 years
This 1974 gem is really one-of-a-kind - Dr. Seuss wrote the text but the illustrations come from Quentin Blake, an English artist whom Geisel specially chose for the task. The words are vintage Seuss, but the pictures are different, and charmingly so. There's a lighter line and more crowded collections of people and animals, but there's every bit the same dose of whimsy and fun. This one is a morning book or a daytime book, a refreshing change from all those bedtime stories that fill your shelves. It is full of silly references ("Mt. Dill-ma-dilts") and wonderful rhymes (waiters, alligators, elevators) - and the punch line proclaims the virtues of sleeping in! No wonder this is our "sleeper" favorite...
